Total Woman Gym and Atmosphere Day Spa is the largest full service women’s only gym and day spa in California. We were started in 1968 and have dedicated more than 40 years to helping women achieve their fitness, wellness and spiritual goals.
The company’s visionary founder, Art Stone, began his first health club with a single store called World for Women in West Los Angeles. The idea came to him while he was the owner of the Kismet Beauty Salons, 11 successful beauty salons in Los Angeles area. Here he discovered his primarily female clientele continually spoke about wanting the pampering of an exclusive day spa as well as the results provided by what was knows at the time as “fat farms”. In addition, they wanted these facilities to be dedicated to women only.
His first store, which was a women’s only health club offering massage and a health food café, provided his clientele what they had been asking for and became and instant success. In 1983 Adrienne Stone joined forces with her husband and together they began expansion of the successful concept to incorporate full service day spas which included facials, body treatments, massage, aromatherapy and manicures and eventually changed the name to Total Woman Gym and Day Spa. Art and Adrienne retired in 2007 when they sold the company and now serve as Board members for Total Woman, continuing to guide the company with their vision.
Today we have 11 locations across Southern California and are continuing to expand. Our unique concept is like nothing you have ever seen. We have all of the amenities that a woman would want in a fitness center with a twist. Our full service day spas and boutique elements give our gyms the upscale look and feel of a five start day spa while providing the exclusivity of a beautiful women’s only gym.
