Lactic acid and your skin

Standard

Lactic Peel facial treatment imageIn the fitness industry lactic acid often brings to mind muscle pain and soreness in relation to a hard work out. However, in the spa industry lactic acid is a powerful naturally occurring alpha-hydroxy acid for use in cosmetics, lotions and cleansers to assist in smoothing and moisturizing the skin. A colorless, organic acid compound derived from sugar, lactic acid is said to be an important alpha-hydroxy acid because… it helps to exfoliate and improve the appearance of skin. It is a powerful, yet less irritating alternative to other acids such as glycolic acid. Unlike glycolic acid, lactic acid penetrates the skin deep enough to exfoliate and provides even surface peeling, yet does not penetrate deep enough to strip the skin of its moisture.

Organic lactic acid changes your skin, offering amazing results – naturally, without downtime.

Atmosphere Day Spa offers an ultimate strength peel containing organic lactic acid, enhanced by pumpkin fruit enzymes and stimulating pomegranate to provide a powerful surface peeling of dull skin cells. This peel dramatically improves dull, lifeless and rough textured skin and it can be customized to meet the level of exfoliation needed with amazing results, and no “down-time”. Skin feels smoother and retexturized, with a brighter, more even overall tone. This peel will smooth out fine lines and wrinkles, stimulate cell turnover, restore elasticity and promote skin healing. The Organic Lactic Peel will provide immediate visible results; however having the treatment in a series of 3-6 will provide better, longer-lasting results.

Protecting your skin from the sun after any peel is essential to keeping it healthy, so to compliment this facial we recommend using a broad spectrum UVA/UVB sunscreen that provides maximum protection. We suggest Bioelements SPF 50 Facescreen, a moisturizer and sunscreen all in one and recommended for all skin types. Peel or no, this is good advice for healthy skin lifelong.
